Hukl builds stuff.
Harald “Hukl” Lehr is the person behind huklbuildsstuff. Working across art and craft, he makes objects, sculptures and experiments. His background in skating, steelwork and making shapes how he approaches materials and what they can become.
The material already has a story.
The starting point is rarely a blank slate. Used skateboard decks, wheels, steel, timber and other materials arrive with marks and histories of their own. Hukl cuts, layers, casts, welds and rebuilds them without hiding where they came from. A background in steelwork informs how the pieces are built, while skating remains a recurring influence on his materials, visual language and approach.
Shaped by skating.
Skateboarding and streetboarding are part of Hukl’s history and continue to inform his work. Much of his material, visual language and instinct to approach things differently comes from that background.
