BURNING WHEEL

BURNING WHEEL brings together two materials that meet every day in skateboarding: decks and concrete. A skateboard wheel sits within a flame-shaped body made from used and broken decks, with engraved matt-black outlines tracing the flames. The sculpture attaches magnetically to its concrete base, which can also serve as a small fingerboarding obstacle. Coloured wood layers and solid concrete turn the familiar relationship between board, curb and ledge into a freestanding object.
